More You: a birthday poem

More You: a birthday poem
With another birthday
Comes more you–
You have grown
Learned new tricks
And spun more silk
You have hidden more faults
Paid more dues
And breathed more air.
You have asked more questions
Wished harder
And held tighter.
You have carved more paths
Dropped more baggage
And smelled more roses.
With each passing year,
You are more
To me.
