Autism at gatherings

I love joining family fun, but sometimes my ears hurt. With voices and laughter and noise comes an echoing hurt that makes me feel dizzy and confused. The sounds echo and then join more sounds that expand and bombard me until I feel jumpy. With autism being at gatherings people forget I am hurting and probably think I am a shell that is empty. Sarah is real and present and loving, but she often hurts too much to join the family fun.
